Here are some pictures I took at the Biltmore Estate in Ashville, NC. I spent last weekend visiting Becky, one of my best friends who moved off to Atlanta after college and has, sadly, never come back :( Of course this gives me a good excuse for a trip (by myself!!) We had lots of fun eating and shopping in Atlanta and then eating and touring in Ashville. Did I mention eating??
For those of you who might not know, the Biltmore Estate was the home of George Vanderbilt (think late 1800's). It is still owned by his family but has been open to the public for tours since the 30's. This 'house' is amazing! It's 125,000 sq ft, which is around 4 acres - inside! There are 4 stories plus a basement and attic. And George built this as a bachelor!! Could you imagine that on "The Bachelor"?
But even with all the glamour of the house, I think I enjoyed the gardens even more. They were planned by the same man who developed Central Park in NYC. The azaleas were in full bloom and everything was so pretty.
I had a great weekend away and it was really nice to see Becky and meet Graham*! *who I think is a keeper... I do have to say though it was a really nice treat to see Eric and Taylor waiting for me at baggage claim.
